In an attempt to individualize the education of students, the college offers a program allowing credit by examination. Through this program, a student may bypass subjects he or she has already mastered and pursue work that is more advanced. A student may earn up to a total of 21 hours toward graduation in courses appropriate to the student's major through credit by one or more of the following three methods:
- College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
- Advanced Placement Program (AP) of the College Board
- Departmental Examinations
Students wishing to receive course credit should have an official copy of scores sent to College Admissions and Records for evaluation.

College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
Students wishing to receive credit for the CLEP examination should have the official score report sent to College Admissions and Records for evaluation. Advanced Placement Program (AP)
Students who participated in the Advanced Placement Program of the College Board in high school may earn college credit. Students wishing to receive credit for Advanced Placement courses should have the College Board send their official AP examination scores to College Admissions and Records for evaluation. Departmental Examinations
In some academic areas, students are allowed to take departmental examinations for credit. Students should contact the department in which they wish to receive credit for additional information.

International Baccalaureate
Students who have completed International Baccalaureate (IB) tests may receive up to a total of 24 semesters of collegiate academic credit. In order to receive college credit for IB Diploma completion, students must have their test scores sent directly to Georgia Perimeter College.
