Learning Communities (LCs) are interdisciplinary clusters of courses that explore a particular theme or shared academic interest. LC courses emphasize the relevance of studies to the "big picture." Students see connections among different courses and how they relate to important topics in life. They also have a unique opportunity to become a member of a supportive learning environment. The Learning Community program is designed to help students succeed in college by providing a formative, integrated academic experience that builds strength, perspective, and commitment. Students in LCs typically have an easier time developing study groups and other peer support systems. Students in a learning community take several classes together, get to know each other, and find support for their goals in college, while teachers work together to create a dynamic learning environment for their students.
