Library Users
Georgia Perimeter College Libraries are open to the public. However, only currently enrolled GPC students (including joint enrollment and transient students), faculty, and staff have borrowing privileges.

Circulation Policies

  • The GPC AccessCard or another photo ID Card is required for checking out circulating and reserve materials.
  • Library books circulate for 28 days, popular books for 14 days. Materials may be renewed twice, if no requests are pending.
  • There is a limit of twenty items total that may be checked out, and a limit of five books on the same subject.
  • Telephoned requests to hold materials cannot be honored. However, if a patron wishes to check out materials currently in use, the Circulation Staff can place a hold request into the online system.
  • Reserve materials are available upon request a GPC Library Circulation Desk. These materials are placed on reserve by instructors and have varying borrowing periods that range from 2 hours to 3 days.

Fines and Fees
Fines are charged to encourage the return of materials in a timely manner and the care of materials while they are checked out. Fines may be paid in cash or by check made payable to Georgia Perimeter College. No refunds for lost items will be made without receipt. Refunds are only available six months from your receipt date.

Your library account will be blocked when fines of $15.00 or more are reached. Borrowing privileges are suspended until the fines are paid. Your Banner account will be blocked when books have not been returned and are declared lost. You will not have access to your transcripts, grades, accounts receivable, or graduation.

Library fees are charged to cover the cost of services provided. Fees are based solely on the library's costs for supplies and overhead. Fees are payable in cash and, in some cases, by using your GPC AccessCard when value is added or a V-card. Below please find a table with our fines and fees...

Reserves Information for Faculty

Placing material on reserve each term:
To process new reserve material, it will be necessary to submit a signed Reserves Form (PDF) and the article, along with all pertinent information, to the Circulation Department at least 5 working days before the item is assigned. Part-time instructors are advised to have an updated patron record in our files. Please call (678) 891-3642 or email Amy Yang to check on this. For those submitting articles to be placed on e-reserve, an electronic file of the article is preferable, although we do accept hardcopies. E-reserve article submissions are accepted in PDF and Microsoft Word formats. Note that each course will need a different password for those accessing e-reserves. Please keep in mind that due to the volume of requests, material needed at the beginning of the term will require two weeks' processing time. All items will be processed in the order received.

Reviewing materials currently on reserve:
Viewing current reserve items can be done through GIL, the online catalog. GIL contains a list of reserve items available at the Circulation Desk. You also may come to the Circulation Department of the Library to review the items that you currently have on reserve. Ask Amy Yang to remove those items you no longer need for the current term. Unless otherwise instructed, all material will be removed at the end of the term and held for you in the Circulation Department. After one month it will be discarded.

Please remind your students that a GPC AccessCard or another valid photo ID is REQUIRED to check out Reserve Items. Please let your students know your e-reserve password and the assigned item number. The Library will not give out passwords. A note in your syllabus with these reminders would be very helpful.
