Mission Statement of the Georgia Perimeter College Learning Resources Centers/Libraries
By putting students first, the Learning Resources Centers of Georgia Perimeter College are committed to providing quality information resources and related services to support teaching, research, and lifelong learning to the GPC community. As full partners in the process of preparing students to succeed in an information society, the centers integrate technology with the personal services of the traditional library/LRC environment. (Adopted by the LRC Directors, October 1999)

Clarkston Library Reference Philosophy
Promoting information literacy in an atmosphere of active learning, the Clarkston reference staff is committed to providing instruction and guidance in using the collections of the Learning Resources Center. Reference librarians educate students in the methodology of researching print, electronic, and other resources as students research their topics. (Adopted by Clarkston Reference Committee, 2002)

JCLRC Computer Use Policy

The library computers are located on the second floor of the Jim Cherry Learning Resources Center.

Priority use of the library computers is assigned in the following order:

  1. Georgia Perimeter College and DeKalb Technical College students, faculty, and staff
  2. All other University System of Georgia students, faculty, and staff
  3. The general public

When demand by highest priority users working on course-related projects is great, then others may be asked to leave computers.

Library computer users must:

  • Sign in at the Reference Desk in order to use the computers.
  • Provide your own storage medium on which to save your files. The computers will accept standard floppy disks, USB flash drives, and writeable CDs.
  • Save your work frequently. Library staff is not responsible for lost work.
  • Use your GPC AccessCard or a V-card to print. A V-card machine is located near the computers on the second floor of the JCLRC.
  • Provide your own headphones for listening to audio on the computers.

Library computer users must not:

  • Play online games.
  • Participate in online chat rooms.
  • Make any attempt to damage computer hardware or software.
  • Download and/or install any software or save any files to the computers’ hard drives.
  • Use any library computer for any illegal or criminal purpose.
  • Violate copyright laws or software licensing agreements in your use of library computers.
  • Engage in any activity that is deliberately and maliciously offensive, libelous, or slanderous.

Users not complying with these policies will be asked to leave the Library.

Printing at the Library

  • The printers in the library operate using a print management system.
  • The print management system requires a print card. GPC students can use their AccessCards to print. All other users, including DeKalb Tech students, must purchase a V-card from the V-machine in the Library.
  • More information about the print management system.
  • Use only the paper provided in the printers. Users may not provide their own paper.
  • If you're connected to the wireless network and you need to print, try PrinterOn, our online print service. After you send documents to be printed, you can pick them up at any campus print management printer.

Children in the Library
Children under the age of sixteen must be accompanied by an adult while using library resources, including library computers, in keeping with Georgia Perimeter College policy as outlined in the Georgia Perimeter College Policy Manual, Section 405.
