Why Study Art: Studying Art at GPC prepares you for successful transfer to a four-year institution or for a career as a professional artist. Creative visual thinking is brought to life by a faculty of professional artists who will expand your skills and talent. Our two-year coursework teaches the foundations of art through drawing, design and history to help you explore passions and career interests. Our gallery and visiting artist program connect you with art and artists from around the world.
GPC’s Art courses are practical, professional and will give you the foundation you need to further your art education. They include art history, drawing, ceramics, painting, watercolor, photography, computer imagery and portfolio.
Painting is so poetic, while sculpture is more logical
and scientific and makes you worry about gravity.
Mark Rothko
Russian-born American painter

Why Start at GPC?
Graduates from the GPC art program are highly successful in transferring to four-year institutions because of our emphasis on portfolio preparation. You also have the opportunity to study abroad in cultures with varied approaches to the visual arts. Choose between an Associate of Science degree in Art or an Associate of Arts degree in Art, which requires six credit hours of foreign language.
