Learn how art, technology, business, politics and culture converge in the making of a film at GPC’s Film Studies program.
Why Study Film: Studying film lets you become an active interpreter and get “behind the scenes” of a film to understand how theme, plot, mood, conflict and symbolism are conveyed by the camera, special lighting or music. You’ll realize how film reflects, as well as affects, our society. Learn to think critically and to analyze film styles and techniques and the power they have to create a new reality. Movies will never be the same.

There is an extremely wide range of incomes for film-related occupations. A sample average income from 2008 is $64,430 for producers and directors--$85,940 in the motion picture and video industry and $55,380 in radio and television broadcasting.

GPC’s film program gives you critical thinking skills—the ability to look at a film and identify why it works or doesn’t work; who is the audience; and is the film driven by the script, by great actors or simply a terrific plot. GPC gives film students a strong background for transfer to a four-year university or industry-specific institution.GPC also sponsors film festivals and offers GPC Sees, a film club that welcomes student filmmakers and film enthusiasts.
