* There has been much discussion among Senate members as to whether this document was presented for a valid first reading the the April 6th meeting. This discussion can take place on the floor of the Senate during the April 27th meeting and the parliamentarian can issue a ruling.
However, the spirit of the bylaws is to ensure that any proposals are widely published and discussed by Senate members with their constituents prior to a vote. Based on the volume of e-mails that have been copied to the Faculty Senate Chair, it is virtually certain that discussions have been held. Indeed, each campus Senate was asked to meet and discuss the proposal. The administration of Georgia Perimeter College is asking for the input of the Faculty Senate on this matter as it plans for the coming academic year. It is the opinion of the Faculty Senate Chair that delaying a vote on a procedural matter would reflect poorly on the Faculty Senate. The Faculty Senate Chair encourages members to be ready to have discussion and hold a final vote on the proposal at the April 27th meeting. Let the proposal be decided based on the content rather than how the content was presented.
