SYLLABI
POLICY
In order to ensure consistent academic practice and responsible
academic relationships between teachers and students, Georgia Perimeter College
requires that certain items of information and policy be included in all course
syllabi and distributed to students.
Syllabi for all courses must be on file in department offices. Required components of syllabi are:
l Instructor information:
instructor’s name, office room number and hours (if applicable), and other
procedures for student communication with the instructor.
l Course information:
Course
number, section, title, academic term, and location.
Required
texts, with titles, authors, and editions.
Attendance
policy preamble.
Attendance
policy.
Withdrawal
policy.
Course
description.
Statement of objectives which reflects the Expected Educational Results
as given in the Common Course Outline.
l Schedule information:
Dates
of major assignments, papers, field trips, projects, etc.
Dates
of midterm and/or other important tests.
Disclaimer
stating that dates may change.
Date
and time of final exam.
l Grading information:
Course requirements such as exams, quizzes, classroom participation,
projects, oral presentations, and papers, including the percentage each counts
toward the final grade.
Policies
regarding missed exams and late work.
Grading
scale and standards.
l Other Components
Americans with Disabilities Act Statement.

Honesty.
Georgia Perimeter College also encourages instructors to include
certain other elements in course syllabi as being conducive to learning. These are listed in the document “Faculty
Syllabus Checklist” available from Department Chairs and include, but are not
limited to, the following:
