Indian Consul General in Atlanta
The Chief of Protocol of the State of Georgia presents his compliments to Mesdames and Messieurs, the Members of the Consular Corps.
I am pleased to announce that the Republic of India has officially appointed the Honorable Ajit Kumar to serve as its first Consul General in Atlanta. Mr. Kumar received his accreditation from the U.S. State Department on 19 November 2011 and is now officially operational as the head of mission for India’s new consulate general, which will cover the Southeastern United States.
The government of India first announced its intentions to locate a consulate in Atlanta in the fall of 2008. This brings to conclusion a lengthy but ultimately fruitful process that involved a wide array of partners locally, in Washington, and in New Delhi. At the present, the consulate occupies temporary space, which is listed on the updated directory attached to this email. Of course, when the consulate moves into its permanent location, we will alert you.
