| 6-10 | 12 | 18 |

Employees accrue vacation on the 28th day of each month and the leave is available for use in the following month. Leave records are adjusted each December 31 to show no more than forty-five days. Employees shall be compensated for accrued vacation time up to forty-five days upon termination of service from Georgia Perimeter College for any reason.
Sick Leave With Pay
All full-time employees of the college earn eight hours of sick leave per calendar month of service. Sick leave for employees shall be cumulative. It is very important that sick leave be used only as indicated and not abused. Sick leave may be granted at the discretion of the college and upon approval by the supervisor for an employee's absence for any of the following reasons:
- Illness or injury
- Medical and dental treatment or consultation
- Quarantine due to a contagious illness in the employee's household
- Illness, injury or death in the employee's immediate family requiring the employee's presence
- An employee's immediate family includes the employee's child, spouse, parents, sibling, grandparents, grandchildren, daughter/son in-law, brother/sister in-law, grandparent in-law and any relative which is a member of the employee's household.
If sick leave is claimed for a continuous period in excess of one week (five working days), a physician's statement is required. A terminating employee shall accumulate sick leave or be entitled to receive sick pay after the last working day of employment.
Sick Leave Without Pay
Any employee unable to return to work after exhausting all accumulated sick leave and accrued vacation leave may be granted sick leave without pay for a period not to exceed one year. Furthermore, such approved sick leave shall allow the employee the right to elect to continue his/her group insurance benefits and the institution will continue its share of the cost for such period. All other benefits are prohibited which otherwise would accrue to the employee.
Family and Medical leave
Family and Medical Leave is available to employees who have been employed on a halftime basis or greater for at least twelve months. Employees are limited to a maximum of 12 weeks of paid or unpaid leave for birth/adoption; serious health condition of the employee, minor child, spouse, parents or parents in-law; leave due to a call to active duty; leave to care for a family member in the armed forces who is recovering from an injury.
With certain exceptions as indicated in the Family and Medical Leave Act, FMLA entitles the employee to be restored to the position held prior to going on leave or to an equivalent position with equivalent pay and benefits. FMLA allows the employee to maintain his/her benefits during the period of leave with payment of the college's share of the premiums. Approval must be requested on the appropriate form which is available in the Human Resources Department.
