Future iTeach programs are under review by the Office of Information Technology and Center for Teaching and Learning.
iTeach Round 2
In Fall 2011, 12 faculty were accepted into the iTeach program. Based off of our experiences from last spring slight modifications to the faculty learning community portion of the program have been made. These 12 faculty are exploring the use of Macbook Airs, iPads, apps, eTextbooks, and podcasting while participating in a learning community. The addition of the Macbook Airs has allowed us to develop a more streamlined approach to training faculty on creating podcasts and ePub files. The Macbook Airs are being used by the faculty only to create content that students will consume via their iPad. Some of the workshops faculty are participating in include how to podcast, how to self publish using ePub, how to use student response apps, and getting publisher resources.
At the end of Fall 2011, the faculty will create an implemetation plan for how they will use an iPad in one of their spring 2012 classes. Each student in the selected class will receive an iPad (for use that semester only) and some associated content. Through out the spring semester the students will use the iPad and content and complete surveys regarding their experiences.
