Georgia Perimeter College and the National Cares  Mentoring Movement cordially invite you to attend the second annual Mentor Recruitment Rally

More than two dozen metro Atlanta mentoring organizations will be represented at the Rally. Participants will be able to register for mentoring opportunities as well as learn more about GPC programs and courses of study.

Keynote Speaker: Susan L. Taylor

Susan Taylor, editorial director of Essence magazine, is the keynote speaker at the Georgia Perimeter College 12th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration, set forJan. 15, 2008.
 
The theme of this year’s MLK program is a call to action through the National Cares mentoring initiative, launched by Taylor in 2006 at the Essence Music Festival. National Cares and its affiliate Atlanta Cares, encourages individuals to mentor at-risk children. It has been selected as this year’s MLK service project.

Highlights of the MLK Birthday Celebration include the annual presentation of Corporate, Individual and Student Humanitarian Awards and performances by  the GPC Jazz Combo and the GPC Chorale, under the direction of Susan J. McEwen, GPC assistant professor of music.

Emmy Award-winner Karen Graham, Fox5 Atlanta TV weekend sports anchor, and Frank Ski, morning personality on V103 FM share emcee duties. 

The 12 Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration program, which is free and open to the public, begins at 7 p.m. at the Beulah Missionary Baptist Church, 2340 Clifton Springs Rd., Decatur. Doors open 6 p.m. For more information, visit www.gpc.edu/mlk or call 678-891-2555.
