iCollege, Blackboard Vista, Desire2Learn and What it Means to You

Georgia Perimeter College is pleased to announce that the University System of Georgia has selected Desire2Learn (D2L) to replace Blackboard (WebCT) Vista. GPC's learning management system known as iCollege will no longer be powered by Blackboard Vista per the recommendation of the USG Learning Management System Transition Task Force. The LMS Task Force was charged with recommending a Learning Management System to replace the current system that will no longer be supported by Blackboard effective January 2013.

An LMS software application is designed to manage online classroom activities and includes functionality such as a learning repository for course content, assignments, discussion boards, messaging, assessment, grades, and communications between faculty and students. The D2L learning management system offers us an innovative solution that is intuitive and user friendly with sophisticated course building capabilities, extensive reporting, assessment and collaboration options, and flexibility for matching the learning environment to the unique learning preferences of GPC.

For the GPC implementation timeline and additional details, visit the project website. Please use the project website to keep abreast of the transition from Blackboard Vista to Desire2Learn.

If you have any questions regarding the transition, please address them to the iCollege Advisory Committee by sending an emial to icac@gpc.edu.  The Advisory Committee will use the questions received to update the project website, including frequently asked questions.
