Communication and collaboration are two important building blocks of constructing a shared understanding.  Finding opportunities to continue to communicate and collaborate at a distance can be a challenge. Georgia Perimeter College faculty and staff have a number of tools at their disposal for continuing to interact at a distance.

 

If you would like to meet synchronously and at a distance with students or another audience, then Blackboard Collaborate Web Conferencing is the solution.  It allows presenters and their audience to meet in a virtual space that allows for shared viewing and eboard space, as well as audio, video, and text communication.

If you use iCollege, there are several communication tools that you can use to send one way messages and/or have asynchronous vocal dialogue.

Blackboard Collaborate now offers a desktop instant messaging tool called Blackboard IM (formerly Wimba Pronto).  This is a great way to enhance communication among faculty and students as well as among staff members at GPC.

The voice authoring component of Blackboard Collaborate facilitates vocal instruction, collaboration, and assessment.  It incorporates threaded voice boards, voice-enabled email, embedded voice within course pages, and live group discussions. 

Sometimes your goal is to provide information to your audience in a one-way communication environment.  GPC allots faculty and staff web space so that faculty can create web pages to advertise classes, share information, and more.
