GPC Supported Online Software

Various software resources are accessible via the Internet.  This ease of access permits users to utilize the tools anywhere, anytime without the need to install any application s on your home or work computer.  Most online resources require a login, which ensures that your content is protected in a safe, online environment.
 

Listed below are online tools that Georgia Perimeter College and University System of Georgia have purchased for use for both informational and instructional purposes.  

 

iCollege

iCollege is the locally branded name for Blackboard Vista 8 (formerly WebCT Vista 4) learning management system (LMS).  Every course section taught at Georgia Perimeter College, whether it is taught online or face-to-face, has a corresponding iCollege section.  These sections are generated automatically, and there is no need to request that a section be created for your course.  However, you may request a blank Building Section that can be used to develop new online content prior to implementing it in an active section.
 
Turnitin.com
Turnitin plagiarism detection software ensures original work by checking submitted papers against 14 billion web pages, 150 million student papers and millions of articles from library databases and publications. 
 
To get access to Turnitin.com, you must obtain the college license information from http://www.gpc.edu/oit/software. Use this information to create your account with Turnitin.com.
 

Grademark

GradeMark is a paperless grading component of Turnitin.com which minimizes editing time and provides richer feedback to students.  Instructors use online grading tools to highlight areas of concern and quickly drag marks and comments directly onto submitted essays and papers.
 
To get access to the GradeMark tools, you must obtain the college license information from http://www.gpc.edu/oit/software.

Echo360 Lecture Capture (GPC Rewind)

GPC Rewind is the locally branded name for the Echo360 automated lecture capture system.  Although the recording hardware is available in select GPC classrooms, users can access and edit the recordings online.  The completed video is then automatically published to your iCollege course, podcast feed, or website depending on your settings.  If you teach in one of the Echo360 classrooms and would like to have your lecture captured, fill out the GPC Rewind request form.

The college provides a Windows Streaming Media server for faculty and staff of the college to use. To obtain an account please contact the Service Desk. Please visit this website to learn more about Streaming Media options at GPC.
 

USG Podcasting

USG Podcasting

The University System of Georgia (USG) podcast server provides centralized podcast hosting services for USG institutions and designated organizations or units. The server is available to USG faculty and staff for the distribution of audio and video content for a variety of educational and information purposes.

iTunes U (coming soon)

The GPC iTunes U site will provide a central location for podcasts and captured lectures created by GPC users.  The content can easily be downloaded and viewed on any Mac, PC, iPod, iPad, or iPhone.
 

Blackboard Collaborate - Web Conferencing (formerly Wimba Classroom)

The web conferencing component of Blackboard Collaborate provides an online teaching and learning environment which includes audio, video, an interactive whiteboard, application and desktop sharing, rich media, breakout rooms, and session recording.  An instructor can utilize web conferencing within a specific iCollege course section.  In addition, faculty and staff can request access to an online meeting room outside of the iCollege environment. 
 

Blackboard Collaborate - Voice Authoring (formerly Wimba Voice)

The voice authoring component of Blackboard Collaborate facilitates vocal instruction, collaboration, and assessment.  It incorporates threaded voice boards, voice-enabled email, embedded voice within course pages, and live group discussions.
