Nov. 24th, 2009      New Event Request Form!
Please be advised that OIT has updated the "Media Request Form" to the "Event Request Form".  The new form is HERE.  Along with its improved ease of use, we have adjusted the required lead time to 48 hours due to increased volume.  Please request a Facilities Request Form for space by contacting the scheduling group HERE.  You will need to include the space confirmation number in the notes section of the Event Request Form. .  .  Along with .  Along with its .  . dfg
Nov. 20th, 2009 Sending Emails to students!
We are currently experiencing issues with faculty and staff sending email from their GPC email account (john.doe@gpc.edu) to students at their GPC email account. You may receive a bounced message notice or error when attempting to email a student. Please be patient. We are working on the issue and hope to have it resolved soon.
Oct. 26th, 2009 SIS/Banner Issue!
If you are getting an error in SIS/Banner that says, "FRM-92160: WEB Client version too old", then please empty out your JInitiator cache. You can do so by going to Start and then Control Panel. Once Control Panel opens, please make sure that you are in the Classic View instead of the Category View. If you are in the Category View, you can switch by clicking on the "Switch to Classic View" link on the left-hand side. Next, double-click on JInitiator 1.3.1.28. Once it opens up, go to the Cache tab and click on Clear Jar Cache. Click "Yes" when it prompts you to verify that you want to erase cache files. After that, you can reboot your computer and then try again. 
Oct. 7th, 2009 iCollege Version 3!
 iCollege version 3 will become inaccessible to faculty and students on October 7, 2009. Faculty will need to move any needed course materials to iCollege Version 8 prior to Oct 7th. All teaching and learning activities should be taking place in iCollege Version 8. After October 7, 2009, iCollege V3 will only be available for accessing data such as student activity or grades. Requests to access this data must be made at the Service Desk: email us here or call us at 678-891-3460. It will take approximately 3 business days for these data requests to be processed.
Sep. 10th, 2009 Phishing email!
There is an email circulating that has "Maintenance Policy" in the subject line. This is not a legitimate email from GPC. If you look at the address its coming from, you will see it is not one of ours. The getmylogin page is the only place you should change your password and OIT should never ask you for your password in an email. You do not need to forward the message to us, just delete it an do not respond to it. If you have gone to this page and put your information in, there is no need to worry. Just go to the getmylogin page and change your password immediatly and you should be fine.
Aug. 17th, 2009 Resetting passwords!
To protect your identity, the Service Desk is no longer authorized to reset passwords for Students and Employees. Please go to the GetMyLogin page to reset your GPC password. Please note: ADP passwords and SIS PIN's are NOT included in the streamlining.GPC/Web, iCollege, Logging into the Open Labs or the LRC and email passwords are now all the same password and can be reset on the GetMyLogin page.

Thank you for your patience as we work to reduce the number of passwords necessary for accessing college services!

As you know, we have switched to the new ADP Payroll/HR system on August 8th. All employees must self register in the in the new ADP system as soon as you can. Registration needs to be completed as soon as possible in order to ensure that employees are paid properly. Instructions on how to register, add eTime, how to use the services and other features are found here. Select the item you need from that list.. (some of the links are screen capture presentations) If you are having problems or questions about ADP and or the timecard approval process we have a team that is on duty to help you. Please fill out the ADP helpform and you will receive a response as soon as possible.

Aug. 13th, 2009 Network Maintenance!
OIT will be performing network maintenance on Thursday, August 13 between 9:30p and Midnight. During this time, you will not be able to login to the network while on campus. This will prevent you from access services such as iCollege, the Internet, and the SIS. If you are off campus, you will be able to access all services without any issues.

Jul. 29th, 2009 Streamlining Student passwords!
Please note: Previous student email, iCollege and GPC/web passwords will no longer work as of August 7th, 2009. Beginning Wednesday, August 5th, through Saturday August 8th, 2009 student passwords for email, iCollege, and other college services will be reset to one single password.  Once the reset is complete,on Sunday August 9th, students should go to the GetMyLogin page or the "GetMyLogin" button at the top of this page to obtain their new password information or if they wish to change their password, forget their password and need to reset it. Jun. 17th, 2009 Please note that iCollege version 8 will be down June 22-26 for extended maintenaance in preparartion for our August Go-Live date.iCollege 8 will be comepletly inaccessable during this time iCollege 3 will NOT be affected by this downtime.
Jun. 11th, 2009 There was an update last night from Microsoft, when some of you first open Outlook, it says its running for the first time. Nothing to worry about though, just let it run for a minute and it will be fine. You wont lose anything.
May 21st, 2009 On Thursday, May 21st, Georgia Perimeter College’s internet service provider, Peachnet, will perform maintenance on the network connection to the college. This necessary maintenance will require down time that will affect access to most college wide services. Affected services include, but are not limited to Banner/SIS, Web, and Faculty/Staff email. iCollege and Student Email will not be affected. iCollege will be accessible from the gpc.view.usg.edu. Student Email will be accessible from webmail.gpc.edu Work will begin at 9:00 pm, continuing through the night with all services restored by 7:00 am Friday morning, May 22nd.
Apr. 8th, 2009 iCollege Version 8 will be released to faculty at 9a on Wednesday, April 8. A genmail as well as iCollege announcement will be made. Training on how to use SMART(this is a migration tool for iCollege, NOT SMARTS), how to rebuild, and the differences in V3 and V8 will start on Thursday, April 9. For the month of April training will focus on current users. Beginning in May we will start training new users on V8.

Anytime you get an email like this please let the Service Desk know and do not respond to it. If you have responded with your password however, please let us know immediately so the Service desk can change your password or you can change it on your own on the GetMyLogin page.
Mar. 9th, 2009 There was a power outage at Decatur which affected the Network and phone systems on all campuses. Planet Managment and Network Services restored the connection by 11:30am.

GPC is launching "Phase One" of our new online phone directory.

  1. Go to www.gpc.edu/phone
  2. Click on Employee Phone Directory
  3. Log in with your GPC username and password
  4. Click Update My Entry

The Update screen provides instructions for other changes that may be required and how to request that changes be made.  If you are not listed in the directory, please contact the Service Desk to request an online directory entry.

Jan. 12th, 2009 As expected, the ServiceDesk is experiencing a high call volume this week, please be patient as we process all your requests as quickly as possible. Employees and Students can retrieve their iCollege/Email/GPC Web user names and passwords at http://www.gpc.edu/getmylogin. Please see the Student or Employee section on the left side menu for more options.
