Dec. 21st, 2010 Regarding Winter Holiday!
The Service Desk will be closed as of Friday, December 24th for winter holiday. We will resume normal operation at 7:00am on Monday, January 3. Have a happy, safe and healthy holiday!  
Dec. 14th, 2010 Telephone and Voice Mail Upgrade on 12/18!
To enhance Georgia Perimeter College telecommunication services, OIT will be conducting a telephone and voice mail system upgrade beginning on Saturday, December 18th, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. Please retrieve any existing voicemail on the current system before Friday, December 17th at 6:00pm. Services listed below will be intermittently unavailable starting Saturday, December 18th at 6:00 p.m. until Sunday, December 19th at 12:00 noon:
  • All Telephone Services
  • Voice Mail Services
  • All Recorded Greetings
  • Auto-Attendant Greetings
  • Campus Emergency Broadcast Systems

Dec. 14th, 2010 Contact Center Phone Issues!
5:00pm - All lines coming into the Contact Center should be working properly now.
10:53am - The phone carrier used by the state-wide contact centers (including GPC) is experiencing technical difficulties and they are working to resolve the widespread issue. This will affect calls made to offices providing student services including Enrollment/Registration, Financial Aid, Advising/Counseling as well as several others. We apologize for the inconvenience. 
Dec. 6th, 2010 Voicemail Unavailable!
10:23am - The Voicemail system is back online; however, we are still experiencing issues. We will continue to work on this problem until it is resolved.
9:10am - The Voicemail system is currently unavailable. We are working to resolve this issue.

Telephone and Voice Mail Upgrade on 12/4!
UPDATE - Due to the low participation of voice mail greeting setups and the potential impact to student customer service, it is in the best interest of the college’s customers to postpone the telecommunications services upgrade. The telecommunication services upgrade will be postponed until Saturday, December 18,2010.

For anyone who has setup their new greeting on the new voice mail system please continue to use your existing password to access voice mail on the current system.

Dec. 2nd, 2010 Power outage affecting Dunwoody Campus!
3:05pm - Power has been restored to the Dunwoody Campus.
1:15pm - The Dunwoody campus is currently experiencing power problems. Georgia Power has been notified and is working to restore the power at the Dunwoody campus. At this time, all voice and data services at the Dunwoody campus are unstable, which also prevents network connectivity and telephone service with the Dunwoody. Georgia Power estimates that the power will be restored within the hour. We will provide updates as they occur. 
Nov. 23rd, 2010 Scheduled Server Maintenance on 11/27!
OIT will be conducting routine maintenance on Saturday, November 27, 2010. The following services will be unavailable between 6:00am and 12:00 noon:
  • Proofpoint - Provides AntiSpam and Virus protection for Email.
  • webmail.gpc.edu - Provides a starting webpage for Student and Employee WebMail
  • Student Password Changes - Students will be able to change their passwords, but it will not change their WebMail password until after the maintenance is completed. 
Nov. 22nd, 2010 Regarding Thanksgiving Holiday!
The Service Desk will be closed from Thursday, November 25th through Sunday, November 28th for the Thanksgiving holiday. We will resume normal operation at 7:00am on Monday, November 29th. Nov. 17th, 2010 Scheduled Server Maintenance on 11/21!
OIT will be conducting routine maintenance on Sunday, November 21, 2010. The following services will be unavailable between 6:00am and 12:00 noon:

Nov. 16th, 2010 Web Server Outage!
Georgia Perimeter College’s website had a failure to display content starting at 12:17am today. OIT has resolved the issue and will continue to monitor.
Nov. 12th, 2010 SIS Downtime on 11/14!
The SIS and SIS-Admin systems will be unavailable Sunday, November 14th, 2010 from 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. to perform upgrades. 
Nov. 12th, 2010 Scheduled Service Interruption Outage on 11/14!
OIT will be conducting routine maintenance on Sunday, November 14, 2010. The following services will be unavailable between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon:
  • fsaAtla - used for International Student Advisement
  • EZproxy - affects Library online databases
  • Clarkston DNS/DHCP

 

Nov. 4th, 2010 Server Outage on 11/7!
OIT will be relocating several servers this Sunday, November 7, 2010. The following servers will be unavailable from 6:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon while they are being moved:

Oct. 29th, 2010 Power Outage at Lakeside!
The Service Desk (Lakeside complex) is experiencing a power outage. We will, however, still be able to answer calls. Thank you for your patience as we work to get this resolved.
Oct. 27th, 2010 SIS Downtime on 10/31!
The SIS and SIS-Admin services will be unavailable Sunday, October 31, 2010 from 6:00 a.m. until noon due to upgrades.
Oct. 19th, 2010 SIS Downtime 10/24!
The SIS and SIS-Admin systems will be unavailable Sunday, October 24th, 2010 from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. due to upgrades. 
Oct. 19th, 2010 Fake Email Warning!
We've received several reports of emails being received by GPC Employees warning users that their email address is queued for deactivation. We've seen several variations, but they all look similar to this.
Please DELETE the message if you've received it (or a similar message). If you have already clicked on the link (even if you did not enter any information) please email us or call us at (678) 891-3460 IMMEDIATELY.

This maintenance will begin at 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday, October 17th, 2010. During this time, the applications listed above may not be available at Decatur Campus B-building and C-Building ONLY.

Oct. 13th, 2010 SIS Downtime on 10/17!
The SIS and SIS-Admin systems will be unavailable Sunday, October 17, 2010 from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 a.m. for maintenance. No other systems should be affected. 
Oct. 12th, 2010 Network and Telephone Issues at Newton Campus Resolved!
2:16pm - Newton Campus phone and network services have been restored. Our service provider has repaired the fiber cut in the Newton area and the GPC network has been stabilized. OIT will continue to monitor services and will provide updates as more information becomes available.

Oct. 4th, 2010 ADP Portal Restored!
On Sunday (10/3/2010), we were notified by ADP that user access to the ADP Portal has been restored. There was also a genmail that went out on Sunday at around 4:35pm.
Oct. 1st, 2010 ADP Portal Issue!
3:12pm - Many are having issues logging into ADP Portal. This issue has been reported and ADP is working to resolve. When you try to log in, you may see the following message: ADP's Portal is undergoing scheduled maintenance and should be available shortly. Please check your genmails for updates.
Sep. 29th, 2010 Login Information!
GPC logins for currently enrolled students are available at the GetMyLogin page. GPC/Web, iCollege, SIS, Webmail, and computer passwords are now all the same password and can be reset at the GetMyLogin page. Here are some helpful screen captures: Setting PasswordChanging PasswordForgot Password.
Sep. 8th, 2010 Network Maintenance on 9/12!
OIT will be performing maintenance at 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 12, 2010 on several systems that will affect the availability of many applications such as:

  • Telephone Services & Connectivity (including Voice Mail)

Sep. 8th, 2010 Phishing Email!
There is an email circulating that has "Validate Your Mailbox" in the subject line. This is not a legitimate email from GPC. OIT should never ask you to validate your inbox. You do not need to forward the message to us, just delete it an do not respond to it.
Sep. 7th, 2010 Student Information System Upgrade from September 17-27!
All BANNER (INB), Student Information System (SIS) and related systems will be unavailable for update from September 17th to September 27th. No transactions or updates will be captured September 17th through September 27th.
  • All data will be captured as of Friday September 16th and offices will be allowed to view Banner (SIS) data captured on the 16th until September 27th, when the upgraded system is again available.
  • No updates made during that time will be reflected in the upgraded system on September 27th. Banner INB will be available for informational purposes only.

9:12am - Dunwoody Campus is currently experiencing a phone service outage. We are working with our service provider to resolve the issue.

2:39pm - Phone & Network services have been restored at the Newton campus. Our vendor is still investigating the issue and trying to identify it's root cause.

Aug. 27th, 2010 SIS Downtime on 8/29!
Student Information System (SIS) and SIS Admin (Banner) will not be available on Sunday, August 29th, 2010 from 6:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. due to scheduled maintenance.
Aug. 27th, 2010 Network Maintenance on 8/29!
OIT will be performing upgrade to the Network Access Control systems that will affect the availability of many applications on all campuses Sunday, August 29th, 2010 from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. During this time, the applications listed below may not be available.
  • Network access to the GPC network
  • Wireless authentication
  • Remote Desktop Connectivity (RDP)
  • Classrooms and Labs will not be affected 
Jul. 29th, 2010 iCollege Downtime on August 4th!
iCollege will be unavailable on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 from 12:01a until 11:59p. This downtime is required by the Information Technology Services group (formerly known as the Office of Information and Instructional Technology/OIIT). During the downtime the ITS group and OIT will be installing and testing a service patch.
Jun. 28th, 2010 Regarding Independence Day Holiday!
The Service Desk will be closed from Saturday, July 3rd through Monday, July 5th for the Independence Day holiday. We will resume normal operation at 7:00am on Tuesday, July 6th. Jun. 25th, 2010 SIS Login Improvement and Streamline!
To better serve our customers the Office of Information Technology is implementing a process to reduce the number of logins required to access GPC information systems. Effective Tuesday, July 6, students, faculty, and staff will use their GPC username and password to login into SIS. The GPC username and password is the same login required to access SIS, email, iCollege, network services, and other campus services. Users will no longer use their GPC-ID and PIN to login to SIS. If you have forgotten your GPC password please visit the GetMyLogin page. To setup or reset your GPC password, you will be asked to complete a Secret Questions and Answers Setup. You must answer three questions according to the listed constraints, and click the Submit Setup button.

May 24th, 2010 Regarding Memorial Day Holiday!

Apr. 21st, 2010 Online Payments!
At 5:00PM on Friday, April 23, 2010, the Online Payment system will be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance and upgrades. The system will be unavailable until approximately 2:00PM on Monday, April 25, 2010. We apologize for the inconvenience, but the upgrades are necessary for compliance. In addition, new features are being added that will provide our students with greater flexibility and options for making payments online.
Feb. 26th, 2010 Ethics Training Program Due by end of May!
As mentioned in Dr. Anthony Tricoli’s genmail sent at 10:27 AM on Feb 26th, the new Ethics Training program is now available and may be accessed via iCollege. Due to the large volume of employees, iCollege is set up so people may be in different groups – not all will be in Group B. For example, you might see: USG Training-Ethics Training Group A, while a colleague sees USG Training-Ethics Training Group H. Please click here for instructions on how to log into iCollege. 
Feb. 19th, 2010 Sending Genmails!
Effective immediately, Genmails will only be distributed with prior approval from the President or a Vice President. Please spread the word to those submitting Genmails that this procedure has changed and a written announcement will be coming soon (This is NOT affecting Campus Listservs at this time, only Genmails). 
Jan. 11th, 2010 First day of classes!
GPC Student iCollege IDs for currently enrolled students are available from the Student ID form: GetMyLogin page. However, many students have not been loaded into iCollege yet depending on when they registered (it can take up to three business days from when you dropped/added or made changes to your iCollege class list to show up). This is normal. Please let your professor know you are waiting to be loaded and see if there are any assignments that you may need so you don’t fall behind. There is an update in iCollege every night this week. 
Jan. 4th, 2010 New Event Request Form!
Please be advised that OIT has updated the “Media Request Form” to the “Event Request Form”. The new form is HERE Along with its improved ease of use we have adjusted the required lead time to 48 hours due to increased volume. Please request a Facilities Request Form for space by contacting the scheduling group HERE. You will need to include the space confirmation number in the notes section of the Event Request form. 
Jan. 4th, 2010 Resetting passwords!
To protect your identity, the Service Desk is no longer authorized to reset passwords for Students and Employees. Please go to the GetMyLogin page to reset your GPC password. Please note: ADP passwords and SIS PIN's are NOT included in the streamlining.GPC/Web, iCollege, Logging into the Open Labs or the LRC and email passwords are now all the same password and can be reset on the GetMyLogin page.
