Dec. 23rd, 2011 Regarding Winter Holiday!
The Service Desk will be closed from Saturday, December 24th through Monday, January 2nd for the winter holiday. We will resume normal operation at 7:00am on Tuesday, January 3rd. For concerns or questions, please email us or call us at (678) 891-3460 and we will return your call on Tuesday, January 3rd. Have a happy, safe and healthy holiday! 
Dec. 19th, 2011 Peachnet Upgrade!
In an effort to enhance our network connection to our Internet Provider (PeachNet); they will be performing an equipment upgrade. This network upgrade of equipment and services will provide future growth and demand for internet bandwidth. This is a college-wide upgrade that will begin Monday, December 19th 2011, at 10:00 p.m. to Tuesday, December 20th 2011 at 4:00 a.m. Due to the nature of this upgrade, all internet services will be unavailable during this maintenance window. Additionally, all internal and external applications will be impacted; which includes Banner and iCollege.  
Dec. 16th, 2011 Web Registration Unavailable!
Spring 2012 web registration has been turned off today for grade cycle from 7am-4pm. This means that students will not be able to register for classes in the Student Information System (SIS) during this time.
Nov. 22nd, 2011 Regarding Thanksgiving Holiday!
The Service Desk will be closed from Thursday, November 24th through Sunday, November 27th for the Thanksgiving holiday. We will resume normal operation at 7:00am on Monday, November 28th. For concerns or questions, please email us or call us at (678) 891-3460 and we will return your call on Monday, November 28th.  
Nov. 7th, 2011 Scheduled Network Outage!
In an effort to enhance our network connection to our Internet Provider (PeachNet); we will be performing an equipment upgrade. Oct. 21st, 2011 Power Outage at Alpharetta Center!
12:53pm - Power should be back up now.
11:53am - Alpharetta Center is experiencing a power outage in the area. Plant Operations is working with Georgia Power to resolve the issue. The center will not be able to receive or send phone calls, email, or connect to Banner/iCollege. We will continue to update as information is made available.
Oct. 3rd, 2011 eTime Message!
11:51am - ADP has communicated to the Shared Services Center that the source of the erroneous emails was due to a new process that is currently incomplete, but triggered an email to multiple recipients. ADP has turned off this functionality. Users may continue to receive these emails throughout the day today. The server will need to be rebooted in order to stop them from generating. The Shared Services Center has asked that the server reboot wait until this evening after we are finished working through the payroll processes. Please ignore these erroneous messages.
9:43am - We have reported an issue to ADP where employees are receiving the below email message. As soon as we have an update as to why this message was sent out we will let you know. “The following employee timecards have been erroneously approved. Please check and remove the manager approval for the current pay period.” We regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding in this matter.
Sep. 15th, 2011 OIT Maintenance on 9/17 and 9/18!
 OIT will be performing maintenance on the following Systems:
  • GPC website starting on Saturday, September 17th from 11:00pm until 8:00am Sunday, September 18th.
  • SIS on Sunday, September 18th from 6:00am until 8:00am.
  • During this time, SIS and SIS-Admin will be unavailable.
Aug. 31st, 2011 Server Maintenance on 9/4!
OIT will be performing maintenance on our web servers this Sunday, September 4, 2011 from 6:00am until 9:00am. Affected systems will include:
  • Main GPC Website (www.gpc.edu)
  • Faculty & Staff Pages (facstaff.gpc.edu)
  • Student Web Pages (student.gpc.edu)
  • GetMyLogin

We will have a temporary web server up during the outage. Other systems, including Email, SIS, SIS-Admin, and iCollege will be available. 

Aug. 17th, 2011 Student Email Issues!
5:21pm - Student email hosted by Microsoft Live@Edu is experiencing an issue with students not being able to login to their email accounts. We have escalated our ticket with Microsoft and we will issue updates as more information becomes available. 
Aug. 10th, 2011 Dunwoody Power Issues!
10:00am - Dunwoody is currently experiencing power surges. These surges may cause systems to enter "Windows Repair Mode". If you have this issue, please cancel out of the repair and restart the system. During the restart, the computer may ask how to boot the system. The options that you'll see will be "Safe Mode", "Start Windows Normally", and "Windows Repair". Please select "Start Windows Normally". The system should then return to the login screen. If you have any questions, please contact the Service Desk.

Decatur Data Center Outage on 8/7!
OIT will be performing an upgrade Sunday August 7th from 5am until 10am to the Decatur data center power systems. This necessary improvement will replace the aging UPS (uninterrupted power supply) with a new system to enhance the stability and redundancy to the Decatur data center. During the outage employee email will be unavailable. Services like the college website and iCollege will not be affected.
Aug. 2nd, 2011 New GPC Wireless!
The new wireless network was launched for all campuses on Sunday, July 31. When you connect to it, you will notice that there is a new network identifier or SSID for you to connect to based on your role at the college—faculty/staff, student, or guest. An example of the new SSID is JagTalk FacStaff which is what employees will use to connect to the wireless network. Instructions for connecting from your laptop or mobile device can be found here.

Jul. 22nd, 2011 New GPC Wireless!
OIT has been working on a new wireless network for the entire college community. After reviewing the current final exam schedules for online and face-to-face, we have decided to launch the new wireless for all campuses Sunday July, 31. Taking into account the students and faculty’s effort to complete the summer semester, we did not want to add any additional change in the network environment until the period of exams and grade posting is finished.

Jun. 27th, 2011 SIS and SIS-Admin Downtime on 6/30!
SIS, SIS-Admin, and related applications such as GetMyLogin and esams will be unavailable beginning at 5:00p on Thursday, June 30, 2011 due to End of Year processing until after midnight on July 1, 2011.

Jun. 17th, 2011 iServe Feedback!
The OIT Department at Georgia Perimeter College is committed to providing excellent customer service – and we are requesting your help in maintaining this goal. Jun. 13th, 2011 Power Issues at Newton Campus!
 6:46pm - Power issues at the Newton campus are affecting services such as the phones and network. We are working with Plant Operations and other staff to address the issue. Thank you for your patience.  
Jun. 10th, 2011 Email Scam!
 There is an email going around requesting that you click a link and confirm your webmail account information. A sample of the message can be found here. Please do NOT click on the link inside the email or any similar link. If you have accidentally clicked on the link and provided your information, please go to the GetMyLogin page and change your password right away. Also, contact the Service Desk so that a request can be placed in for the techs to check on your machine for any possible Malware.  
Jun. 3rd, 2011 GPC Web Server Maintenance on 6/4 & 6/5!
 The GetMyLogin, and Faculty/Staff/Student personal web sites will be unavailable this weekend for maintenance.
  • The GetMyLogin web site will be unavailable Sunday, June 5, 2011 from 6:00a Sunday until 12:00 noon.
  • The Student Personal Web Pages will be unavailable Sunday, June 5, 2011 from 6:00a Sunday until 12:00 noon.
  • The Faculty and Staff Personal Web Pages will be unavailable Saturday, June 4, 2011 from 11:00p until Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 12:00 noon.

A temporary web page will be put in place for the affected sites. 

Jun. 2nd, 2011 SIS Downtime on 6/5!
 The SIS and SIS-Admin systems will be unavailable Sunday, June 5, 2011 from 6:00am until 12:00 noon for maintenance.  
May 27th, 2011 Network and Telephone Outage Clarkston H Building!
10:54am - Due to storm issues from last night, Clarkston H building is experiencing network and telephone connectivity issues that are affecting Admissions and Recruitment. OIT is currently onsite making repairs which will have telephone and internet access unavailable for the next 60 minutes. Clarkston H building should be the only location affected. We apologize for the inconvenience.  
May 26th, 2011 Regarding Memorial Day Holiday!
The Service Desk will be closed from Saturday, May 28th through Monday, May 30th for the Memorial Day holiday. We will resume normal operation at 7:00am on Tuesday, May 31st. May 19th, 2011 SIS Downtime on 5/22!
The SIS and SIS-Admin systems will be unavailable Sunday, May 22, 2011 from 6:00am until 12:00 noon for maintenance.  
May 19th, 2011 Beyond Trust Released!
The Office of Information Technology has released a new product named Beyond Trust. It will enable our customers to install and update certain applications and software on their assigned desktop or laptop.

We will be using a tiered approach for this rollout. As part of Tier 1, customers now have the capability to install or update without contacting the Service Desk. Please click here for a list of approved applications and software and for instructions on updating or installing.  

Apr. 29th, 2011 Scheduled Network Maintenance on 5/1!
OIT will be conducting network maintenance at the Decatur campus on Sunday, May 1st , 2011 from 7a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The following services will be unavailable on the during this maintenance window:
  • Access to the GPC Network Resources at the Decatur Campus
  • Access to the GPC Wireless network College-wide 

 

Apr. 15th, 2011 VPN Maintenance on 4/17!
Remote access (VPN) will be unavailable for a brief period of time on Sunday, April 17, 2011 from 6:00am until 8:00am due to maintenance. 
Apr. 15th, 2011 SIS Maintenance on 4/17!
The SIS system will be unavailable for brief periods of time on Sunday, April 17, 2011 from 8:00am until 10:00am due to maintenance.  
Apr. 13th, 2011 Windows 7 Migration Still Occurring!
The college-wide migration of GPC computers to Microsoft's latest and greatest operating system, Windows 7, is still occurring. This new operating system includes enhanced features such as easier navigation, more stability, and better security. Mar. 25th, 2011 Server Maintenance on 3/26 - 3/27!
OIT will be performing maintenance on our LDAP server from Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 11:45pm until Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 6:00am. Affected systems will include:
  • www.gpc.edu (only pages that require a GPC login will be affected)
  • facstaff.gpc.edu (you will be unable to update personal web pages during this time)
  • idmgmt.gpc.edu (GetMyLogin and Password changes)

Other systems, including Email, SIS, SIS-Admin, and iCollege should be unaffected.

Mar. 8th, 2011 Alpharetta Network Outage!
3:08pm - Our service provider has resolved the issue affecting the Alpharetta Center. We will continue to monitor the situation.
2:25pm - The Alpharetta Center is currently experiencing an issue with our inter-campus network provider. OIT is working with our service provider to resolve the issue. We will provide updates as more information becomes available. 
Feb. 24th, 2011 SIS Downtime on 2/27!
The SIS and SIS-Admin systems will be unavailable Sunday, February 27, 2011 from 6:00am until 12:00 noon to perform upgrades. 
Feb. 18th, 2011 Newton Campus Maintenance on 2/20!
OIT will be performing network maintenance at the Newton Campus on Sunday, February 20th from 6am-Noon. During the maintenance, there may be intermittent outages at Newton Campus. We do not anticipate any service outages on other campuses. 
Feb. 8th, 2011 Decatur Datacenter Maintenance on 2/13!
OIT will be performing maintenance in the Datacenter at Decatur on Sunday February 13th from 6am-Noon. During this time the following services will be unavailable:

Faculty and Staff email, Maximo, Resource 25, Dental Software, Signup and Pharos printing, listservs, web search from GPC websites, Xtender, Windows Media, College webpages requiring login, and departmental fileshares.

iCollege, SIS, and student email will be unaffected. 

Feb. 1st, 2011 Windows 7 College-wide Migration!

Jan. 26th, 2011 SIS Downtime on 1/30!
The SIS and SIS-Admin systems will be unavailable for brief periods of time on Sunday, January 30, 2011 between 6:00am and 10:00am to perform system maintenance. 
Jan. 26th, 2011 iCollege Access!
Many students have not been loaded into iCollege yet depending on when they registered (it can take up to three business days from when you dropped/added or made changes to your iCollege class list to show up). This is normal. Please let your professor know you are waiting to be loaded and see if there are any assignments that you may need so you don’t fall behind. 
Jan. 18th, 2011 Login Information!
Has your password expired and you are unable to use the "change password" link? No problem. Use the "forgot password link" on a logged in PC, answer one of your secret questions and you can reset your password then.

GPC logins for currently enrolled students are available at the GetMyLogin page. GPC/Web, iCollege, SIS, Webmail, and computer passwords are now all the same password and can be reset at the GetMyLogin page. Here are some helpful screen captures: Setting Password, Changing Password, Forgot Password. 

Jan. 5th, 2011 Web Server Maintenance on 1/9!
OIT will be performing maintenance on several of GPC's Web Servers on Sunday, January 9, 2011 between 6:00am and 7:00am. The affected web servers will include:
  • Main Web Server (www.gpc.edu)
  • Faculty-Staff Web Server (facstaff.gpc.edu)
  • Student Web Server (student.gpc.edu).

The following Web Services should be unaffected during these outages:

  • Student Information System (SIS)
  • iCollege
