Lindsay Little was in a quandary. She needed to take a single business class to meet the requirements for entry into the business school at Kennesaw State, but the times and dates her college offered the class were not convenient.
“They weren’t offering what I needed during the times I needed it, and I was going to be out of the country,” she said. The loss of one class would mean she would have to wait another semester before she could apply to the business school, therefore altering her planned graduation dates.
She found out about Georgia Perimeter College’s online accounting course, and was able to take it while she was studying abroad in Chile to complete her Spanish minor.
“As a transient student, GPC made it very simple for me –I was able to enroll quickly,” Little said. “The class and the instructor were great—a rich combination of self-study and the book, and the voice-guided presentation was similar to taking the class on-campus. It was nice to have that structure.”
Little said she was able to balance her studies in Santiago, Chile, while simultaneously taking the online course. “I went to school three days a week, and took the online accounting course in the evenings. I had some great discussions with other people in the online class. And I really connected with the instructor to provide one-on-one help when I needed it.”
Little says she would recommend GPC to others. “Georgia Perimeter College really is geared to be very flexible and open,” she said. “I completed the course, and was able to transfer it easily to Kennesaw State. Sending my transcripts was also streamlined, and the process was nice and simple.”
Today Little works for a benefits enrollment firm as a communications specialist and graphic designer. “I do benefit guides and create enrollment instructions and send out email blasts and provide a lot of in-office training on office products.”
Little is so happy that GPC was there when she needed it.
“Without this course, I would have missed an entire semester of school, and it would have altered my graduation date and employment opportunities. Being able to take this one class really impacted the rest of my major studies and what has gone on after graduation, in terms of hitting the job market at the right time.” And, she adds, “the person who referred me to GPC Online turned out to be my husband three years later. He and the program turned out to be just the right fit.”
