Fyodor Cherniavsky, Music Director & Conductor

British-born conductor Fyodor Cherniavsky received his musical training at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He studied conducting with Brian Brockless at Morley College, London and with the legendary Sergiu Celibidache in Munich, Germany. Mr. Cherniavsky is active as a guest conductor in the orchestral, choral and operatic fields as well as musicals and pops concerts. His guest conducting assignments have included orchestras and choruses throughout the southeastern United States. In demand as a clinician and adjudicator, he has conducted youth orchestras and has also designed and presented children's concerts. As an educator he has held the position of Assistant Professor at Georgia State University and currently is on faculty at Georgia Perimeter College in Atlanta. In addition to his work as a conductor, Mr. Cherniavsky is a producer for ACA Digital, Albany Records, American Public Media and Telarc International. He currently serves as Broadcast Recording Producer of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for its local and national concert broadcasts. In spring 2006 he was appointed Music Director and Conductor of the DeKalb Symphony Orchestra.

Richard Rogers, Orchestra Manager

Richard Rogers has served as Orchestra Manager of the DeKalb Symphony Orchestra since 1989. He is a long-time resident of DeKalb County and received his BMU in Education from Georgia State University. Mr. Rogers worked for 18 years in management with Sears Roebuck prior to taking the job with the DSO. He is a bass trombonist with the DeKalb Symphony and has also performed with the Choral Guild of Atlanta, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and on a State Department sponsored tour of Brazil. Mr. Rogers’ musical and business management experience provide a perfect combination of skills to run the day to day operations of the DSO.

Mr. Rogers is also on the adjunct faculty of Georgia Perimeter College as an instructor of low brass and brass ensemble. He serves as recording engineer for GPC, Orchestra Director for Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church and is the staff trombonist for The Theatre Guild and Aurora Theatre.
