See a preview of the department template here. There are four areas that you may set in the template to customize your page. View a Template Guide to the settings and what areas they affect. These areas are optional and may be set to empty quotes "" if not needed. There are five files needed to create a page with all of the element areas. You will create:

  • Your index.html (or other named viewable page).
  • Your Department Top Menu. Set the URL to point to this file. i.e., $depttopmenu="http://www.gpc.edu/~mysite/mydepttopmenu.html";
  • Your Side Menu File. Set the URL in the $sidemenu variable.
  • Your Right Side Bar File. Set the URL in the $rightsidebar variable.
  • Your Left Lower Side Bar File. Set the URL in the $leftlowersidebar variable.
In addition, you can set the left and right testimonials (student pictures) not to show, by changing the value for the $showlefttestimonial = FALSE; and $showrighttestimonial = FALSE;

The left banner image is created "on-the-fly" when the page loads. The text that is set in this line: $leftbannerimagetext = "You can change what is printed on this image and the size of the font in your GPC Look code."; You may use HTML code in your text, but any quotes must be escaped with a backslash, enter links like this: <a href=\"http:www.gpc.edu\">My Link </a>

Template referenced on this page will only work for department pages on www or depts and will NOT work on facstaff

Single Page: Click Here to View A Full Page Department Template On the sample, choose Edit >> Select All, Edit >> Copy. Paste it in a file on your computer's web directory. Save this as template.html. Once saved, you may open it up in your html editor (i.e., FrontPage), edit the SOURCE to include your values, then save it as a NEW name you choose to keep the original template without alterations.

Full Set of Files:Download a Zip File Containing the Full Set of Files to Create a Department Page Save this file to your computer. Unzip the file. Copy the contents to your computer's web directory in a folder of your choice. Once saved, you may open the files in your html editor (i.e., FrontPage).

Copy and Paste Method: Right-click and copy the following blocks of code and paste into a web page. Each block below represents a separate file.

Important Notes:
  •   You must paste the code into the SOURCE or HTML or CODE View of your document NOT into the Design or Normal View 
  • If the GPC Look code is pasted into a FrontPage or HTML file, make sure that the DOCTYPE is set for XHTML. Your DOCTYPE starts on the first line of your file and should look like this:

Check your HTML Code after pasting. Make sure that after pasting the code that the <  and > signs do not change to &lt; and &gt; or the " does not change to &quot; in your source.
