How to Find Course Reserves
- Go to GIL. Clicking
GIL will open GIL in a new browser window, so that you can read these
instructions, toggle to the open GIL window, and perform the steps.
- Click on Search course reserves.

- Find your course instructor in the Instructor drop-down list.

- If you want to narrow down your search even more, find your course in
the Course list.
- Click Search.
- You will see a list of items the instructor has placed on reserve.
- Click on the title you need to open the record for that item.

- Look at the Location field and write down the reserve number. In
this example, the reserve number is 1044 or 1045.
- If an electronic version of the item is available, you will see the
link ELECTRONIC VERSION. Click the link, and
enter the password your instructor has provided.
- Look at the Status of the item to make
sure it's not checked out.
- Take the reserve number you wrote down to the Circulation Desk and ask for the reserve item with that number. You will need to show your AccessCard or another photo ID to check out the item.
Most reserve items have a two hour loan period. These items are on reserve because a lot of students need access to them. For this reason, the late fee for two hour reserve materials is $.25 per hour, even if it's one minute late, to encourage you to return them on time.
A maximum of four articles or two reserve books or one reserve textbook can be checked out at a time.
