Internet Film Resources

CineMedia http://www.cinemedia.org
Quite simply the world's largest film and media directory. The site lists links to movies, TV shows, studios and more, all sorted by category and then alphabetically. The site loads fast, and there are few, if any, dead links.

Internet Movie Database http://www.imdb.com
This site bills itself as "the biggest, best, most award-winning movie site on the planet." It features: trailers, information on upcoming movies, some TV news, and reviews, as well as box office rankings. Unfortunately, pop-up advertisements plague this site.

Film Literature Index (citations only 1976-2001), http://webapp1.dlib.indiana.edu/fli/index.jsp
"The Film Literature Index (FLI) annually indexes 150 film and television periodicals from 30 countries cover-to-cover and 200 other periodicals selectively for articles on film and television. The periodicals range from the scholarly to the popular. More than 2,000 subject headings provide detailed analysis of the articles." This site has not received an update since 2005.

Movie Guide in Theaters http://www.tvguide.com/Find-Shows-Movies/Movies/In-Theaters/
Reviews films that are currently playing and even offers listings of local show times complete with online ticket purchase. This site also features web boards where users can comment on movies. The boards do not appear particularly active and may require some form of registration.

MovieFone http://movies.aol.com/
This site features movie reviews both for those films in theaters and those available on DVD. It also has interviews with celebrities, and trailers.

Movie Review Query Engine http://www.mrqe.com/
There is a searchable database of links to film reviews in popular newspapers and magazines as well as more specialized sources. The site also offers a forum where enthusiasts can discuss their favorite films. The forum is all but unused.

Yahoo! Movies Coming Soon, http://movies.yahoo .com/mv/upcoming/
This site offers information on movies that will appear in theaters soon. This site also offers links to see what films are playing locally and a way to order tickets online.

Variety.com http://www.variety.com/
The web version of a popular and respected entertainment industry magazine. Variety's film reviews, news, production charts, and box office rankings, are available under the tab marked, Film, in the gray box half way down the left side of the page.
