Subject Searching with GIL
GIL is the online library catalog for books and for nonprint items such as CDs and DVDs. Searching by subject heading can help you find a wide but well focused selection of items on many topics.
- Click on the GIL@gpc.edu link in the left column
of the JCLRC home page or the library web site.
- Choose Exact Search.
- Click the radio button next to Subject Heading.
- Write the first word or two of your subject in the Search for box.
Note: subject heading searching does not work well with most history topics.
- Click GO to begin your search.
- GIL presents you with a list of possible subject headings
for your topic. To explore items under a subject heading
click on its blue print.
- GIL then gives you one or more titles which have
the subject heading that you chose. Items that have
Click Title or Clarkston as their location,
are likely to be in the library.
- To find a book or nonprint item's location, click on its blue title, and then scroll down to its Clarkston call number and availability information.
