TEN Ways to Get Help Using the Library

  1. Become familiar with the library home page at http://www.gpc.edu/~clalib
  2. Use the online Ask a Librarian form at http://www.gpc.edu/~clalib/forms/ask.htm
  3. Come to the Reference Desk in the library for friendly, personal assistance or call the library Reference Desk at (678) 891-3645.
  4. Schedule a research appointment. Students can also use this form, or contact the Reference Desk and set up your appointment in person.

  6. Read the Research Guides at http://www.gpc.edu/~clalib/handouts/handouts.htm
  7. Try our online chat service. Go to http://www.gpc.edu/~clalib/forms/chat.htm.
  8. Your professor may schedule a library orientation class to help everyone in your class learn how to do library research.
  9. Take the required ATEC class as soon as possible. You will learn how to do research. ATEC will also help with most of your other classes.

OTHER Ways to Get the Most from Your Library

  • Your JCard is your library card. You need your JCard with you to print in the library and computer labs and also to check out books to take home and materials that are on reserve.
  • The library occupies three floors with an above ground basement. It has over 100,000 books, subscribes to 150 magazines, and provides access to 180 databases through GALILEO.
  • The library's Reference Desk is staffed with friendly, knowledgeable people.
  • The computers in the Reference Area are available for library research.
  • Try Popular Books, located beneath the center stairwell, to find the newest fiction and non-fiction.
  • In the Nonprint Department, you can check out popular CDs, videos, and DVDs.
  • The library is arranged so there are quiet study areas and group study areas. The group study areas are on the second floor (The first floor is the above ground basement).
  • We have twenty-four desks wired for laptop use and provide Wi-Fi (wireless) access throughout the building. For more information about laptop and wireless access, please click here.
  • The library building houses a large Computer Lab and Learning and Tutoring Center for help with English, writing, and math.
