Accessing the Atlanta Journal
and Constitution via LexisNexis

Because LexisNexis, GALILEO’s database for current newspaper articles from around the world, no longer lists the Atlanta Journal and Constitution as a “Major Newspaper,” users need an alternate procedure to search for current articles with a local flavor. This handout takes you step-by-step through accessing the AJC on LexisNexis.

  1. To reach LexisNexis via GALILEO http://www.galileo.usg.edu, click on Databases A-Z, the gold tab in the bar near the top of GALILEO's screen. Then click L and scroll down.

  3. LexisNexis pops up in a separate window when you click on it.

  4. Click the tan Sources tab at the top of the red line on top of the search box.

  12. LexisNexis presents results twenty-five(25) at a time, in a frame that takes up most of the screen. LexisNexis sorts articles by relevance to bring what it thinks are the best articles to the top.

    Here are the articles

  13. If your results are not what you expected, click the blue link in the upper left corner of the browser window. This lets you revise your search. You may need to try various versions of your topic phrase or use related terms or synonyms to get a topic phrase that works for you.
