The Serials Department

Serials are: peridodicals, magazines, journals, and newspapers. Although, you are probably most familiar with them as electronic full text publications offered through GALILEO databases such as Ebsco Academic Search Premier, the JCLRC maintains an attractive, entertaining, and informative collection of print and microform periodicals on the third floor.

Most print periodicals are available on large flat diagonal shelves. The library keeps them for three months to five years. The current day's and Sunday's New York Times and Atlanta Journal-Constitution are behind the Reference Desk on the second floor. Just ask for them.

To access back copies of most serials, simply lift the diagonal shelves and reach inside. The periodicals area is also equipped with a copy machine, large tables on which to spread out your work, and comfortable chairs in which to curl up with your favorite magazine.

The Serials Desk and staff are available during most day time hours and will be glad to help you find print and microfilm journals. Reference librarians also assist with nearly any question involving periodicials.

To learn whether the library has a particular issue of a periodical, run a journal title seach on GIL. Click on this link to learn more.
