The dynamic marketplace is the starting point to define the competitive workplace
needs of employers and the escalating skill requirements of workers. Employers
want a workforce system that produces the right workers with the right skills at the
right time. The fundamental concept behind the DekalbWorks! is that we
partner with employers to become a viable community based resource to
help businesses find and train qualified workers, and to help qualified workers find
available jobs for which they have the necessary skills and credentials.
The DeKalb Workforce Center Inc.is co-located within the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce,
University of Georgia Small Business Development Center, DeKalb Enterprise Business
Corporation, Dekalb Micro-enterprise Institute and the Dekalb County office of Economic
Development in downtown Decatur.
We maintain a policy of providing business services within the scope of the WIA Federal
Regulations and as prescribe by the DeKalb Workforce Investment Board. The services
delivered through Partners and Alliances, particularly those whose mission is to provide
direct services to the business community. Partner organizations include the DeKalb
Chamber of Commerce, DeKalb County Office of Economic Development, Georgia
Perimeter College - Center for Continuing & Corporate Education, DeKalb Technical College,
Georgia Department of Labor, Goodwill Industries of North Georgia, Inc., DeKalb Workforce
Development Department, Georgia Department of Labor Rehabilitation Services, DeKalb
Department of Family and Children Services, Partnership for Community Action, Inc., Jewish
Family & Career Services, Inc. , and DeKalb County Housing Authority.

Upon request for services, DeKalbWorks' General Manager will notify and collaborate with the appropriate Partners to discuss, evaluate, and design a plan to meet the company's workforce development needs.

Recruitment and Job Matching Process Services:
Employers requesting recruitment services may contact the General Manager or a
DeKalbWorks!' representative and an interview with a company official(s) is conducted to
determine the next action steps.
Steps may include:
Arranging a meeting with DeKalbWorks! Comprehensive One-Stop Center Manager and
company officials to setup an “Onsite Employer Recruitment Day;”
Disseminating company job vacancy notices throughout the DeKalbWorks! System and to Partner and associate organizations; and
Posting company job vacancy notices on the DeKalbWorks! web site. To register CLICK on JOB POST button.
Company Reduction-in-labor force services. DeKalbWorks!' services are available to a company requesting services for employees experiencing layoff. When an initial request is received the next action steps may include one or more of the following plans:
A DeKalbWorks!' representative joining the Georgia Department of Labor Rapid Response Team to conduct an on-site information session for affected employees.
Providing the employer with DeKalbWorks! Information Packets for affected employees.
Arranging a special tour of DeKalbWorks!' Comprehensive One-Stop Center to teach affected employees how to access Core Services such as staff assisted Job matching, job referrals, job search assistance and/or job development including registering for jobs with the on-site Department of Labor Employment Services Specialist, Initial assessment, career guidance, short-term pre-vocational training, and adult education and literacy programs; and
Conducting a WIA Orientation session for employees interested in occupational skills training and intensive case management services.

Human Resource Services: The DeKalbWorks!' representative will conduct a brief interview to assess the needs of a company requesting human resource services. Contact will be made with the appropriate Partner(s) organization and a referral made for business services. See Matrix of Services Chart.
Industry and Occupational Data collection : The principle sources of the data is the DeKalb Workforce Investment Board, DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, Department of Labor, Partner organizations, business and industry organizations and consortiums. The intended purpose of the data is to identify present and future workforce needs of the business community. Labor Market Information is through the Department of Labor.
