Christine came to interpreting by way of being a teacher for deaf children.  She has a bachelors in Deaf Education and an M.Ed. in Adult Education. She received her IC/TC certificate from RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) in 1981, and her OTC in 2001.  She taught part-time in the program since 1983.  Her specialty areas include performance interpreting and oral interpreting and program development, planning and evaluation. 

Christine has been working as a full-time coordinator and instructor since 1991. 
Christine is active in state and national interpreting organizations.  She is past president of the Georgia RID, of the Conference of Interpreter Trainers and Stagehands, Inc., a performance Arts interpreting organization.  She has served as a member of the RID national committee for Professional Development, RID Local Test Administrator, co-chair of the program committee for the 2003 RID national conference, and Sponsor Administrator for Professional Development activities for interpreting for the college. 

 
A graduate of Maryville College's Interpreter Training Program in 1983, Jean has been active in the Georgia's RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) starting in 1987.  She is a member of numerous professional and deafness organizations.  Jean is a well-known workshop presenter around the country.  She has worked as a freelance interpreter in a variety of settings. 

Jean received her Master’s Degree in Adult Education from the University of Georgia. She was in the first cohort graduating with an entirely on-line curriculum (a mixed review for that medium of adult learning.) 

Jean has been teaching for the college since 1988, going full-time in 1993.  First certified in 1983, Jean holds an IC/TC, a CI, CT and OTC certifications from RID. 

JEAN PLANT'S RESUMÉ
 

Jon, a native from North Carolina, graduated from East Carolina University in 1993 with a Bachelors Degree in Special Education and an Associate Degree in Interpreting for the Deaf. .In his seventeen years of professional interpreting his experience has included educational, freelance, platform, medical/mental health and Video Relay interpreting. He has also been an adjunct professor in several Interpreter Training Programs since 1998.

 He holds CI and CT certifications from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) and has been in membership with GA, NC and Fl Affiliate chapters of RID, American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA), and the Conference of Interpreter Trainers (CIT).

 He looks forward to his faculty position and working with students to achieve their best. He will soon begin work on his Masters Degree in Interpreter Education and Linguistics of American Sign Language.  

Kayleen Pugh was born deaf and was raised in Utah.  She received her BA at Utah State University in secondary education and MEd in Deaf education at Western Maryland College.  She moved to Alabama as an algebra teacher at Alabama School for the Deaf and taught for 21 years.  She has taught Deaf Studies at Western Maryland College and Alabama School for the Deaf. She presented several workshops as well as coordinated workshops and conferences around Alabama.  She has performed mime and comedy shows in various places.  She was Miss Deaf Utah in 1985. She was a member of Alabama Association of the Deaf and sponsored Junior National Association of the Deaf in Alabama for 19 years.  She was a treasurer for Alabama ASLTA and is currently a treasurer for Georgia ASLTA. She is currently teaching algebra at Atlanta Area School for the Deaf and part time at Georgia Perimeter College.  She is a certified ASLTA-Prov instructor.
