If a renewal is needed for an interlibrary loan, please contact the Access Services Department. Interlibrary loan items may not be renewed online.
Renewing Items:
Items may be renewed online using the Access
my GIL Account feature. Patrons associated with University System institutions
should use the "Access my GIL account" feature from GIL at their home
institution (GPC, UGA, SPSU, MCG). All other patrons should use the "Access
my GIL account" from the GIL@Georgia Gwinnett College.
Items may be brought to the Circulation Desk on the first floor of the library
to be renewed in person. Renewals may not be made over the phone.
Holds:
If an item that a patron wants from the GGC catalog is checked out by another
patron, a different copy of the item may be requested through GIL Express,
or a hold can be placed on the GGC copy at the circulation desk on the first
floor of the library.
Overdue Items:
Failure to return materials in a timely manner will cause the patron's library
privileges to be suspended and/or the patron being blocked in their home institution's
registration system. This could prevent them from receiving grades, registering
or requesting transcripts.
A fine will be charged for overdue Reserve items. Fees for Reserve items
borrowed from the Georgia Gwinnett College Library are as follows:
1 hour and 2 hour Reserves - $1.00 per hour
Overnight and 3 day Reserves - $1.00 per day
Patrons are responsible for monitoring the status of their accounts. Patrons
will not be notified of pending due dates or overdue items unless they have
provided a current e-mail address to the Access Services Department.
Fines may be paid with cash or check. Credit cards are not accepted at this
time nor may the amount be deducted from student IDs.
Lost Items:
If an item is lost the patron should notify the Georgia Gwinnett College
Library as soon as possible in order to stop the accrual of overdue handling
fees. Patrons are responsible for any overdue handling fees that accrue for
any lost items. The patron will be charged a $10 processing fee and a $30
replacement fee for books or a $35 replacement fee for videos. If an item
is located and returned to the library within six months after the patron
has paid the fees, the replacement fee will be refunded. The $10 processing
fee and the overdue fees are non-refundable.
Damaged Items:
If a patron returns a damaged item that is in repairable condition the patron will be charged a $5 damage fee. If the item is deemed to be beyond repair the patron will be charged the same fees as for lost items (see above.) Patrons are still liable for the damage after the item has been returned.
Returning Items:
Items are to be returned to the Circulation Desk on the first floor of the library. If the library is closed a book drop is located under the stairs inside the front entrance to the B Building. Please note that some items should not be returned in the book drop due to their fragile nature. These items are marked as such. Please make appropriate arrangements to return these items to the Circulation Desk during our operating hours.
