Calculus Committee Placement Proposal

The calculus committee proposes that students with a 3 on the Advanced Placement Calculus AB test receive credit for Math 1113.

Some background: Last spring we approved a change to stop giving credit for Math 2431 for a 3 on the AB test in order to be in line with UGA, Georgia State, and Georgia Tech. The new policy was to allow students to exempt Math 1113 with a 3, but not to receive credit. However, after the IB policy that was adopted last spring, giving 1113 credit for a 3 on the AB test would treat the AB and IB programs more equitably. Georgia State currently gives 1113 credit for a 3 on the AB Calculus test, so there is precedent within the system.
