Faculty Services

Dear Newton Faculty,
We encourage you to make use of the Newton Campus Library, and hope you will encourage your students to do so.

Library Instruction
A librarian can come to your classroom to perform a basic research skills session or a session tailored to specific assignments or subjects. Faculty members may schedule a session for their class by calling 770-278-1260.

Please schedule your instruction sessions at least ONE WEEK BEFORE the desired date of instruction to ensure library staff scheduling and preparation time.

You must be present at any library session you have scheduled. If you are unable to attend the session with your class, please arrange for a substitute (another faculty member or full-time staff member) to attend the library session. Library staff cannot serve as substitute instructors. Faculty must also be present if library projects are assigned during class periods.

Please inform your students that they are expected to be on time. Latecomers are disruptive to the class and will not be admitted after the first ten minutes of the session.

Reserve Information for Instructors
Faculty who wish to place books or other materials on reserve should contact the Library at 770-278-1260.  To process new reserve material it will be necessary to send the material and all pertinent information to the Circulation Department at least 5 working days before it is assigned. Part-time instructors should be sure that they have an up-to-date patron record in our files. Please allow 48 hours for processing.

Reviewing Materials Currently on Reserve
Please come to the Library to review the items that you currently have on reserve. The GIL@GPC online catalog contains a list of reserved items available at the circulation desk. Please remind your students that they MUST bring a current GPC Student ID in order to view reserve items. Please call the Library at 770-278-1260 if you have any questions.
